Over the past 30 years, Filipe Marques Gomes, founder and General Director of FMG, Lda. worked for some of the most important Portuguese textile companies where he has managed the production and quality control at all levels. Then he became International Consultant on product development, production and quality control. Filipe Marques Gomes had the chance to collaborate with very important international buying agencies and various American brands of fashion, sportswear and outdoor.

FMG, Lda. is focused on production in Portugal.

We follow up the production cycle from sampling development to the production and delivery control.

Quality, price and production capacity are the main criteria to select the factories and only after being sure of the intersection of these factors, we confirm the production.

We overview the development of the prototypes, we establish and monitor the production critical path so that delivery dates can be kept.

We make sure that the production steps are followed up and that all the requirements are respected.

quality control

We can offer various possibilities of collaboration:
– Production control
– Quality control in line of production and/or final inspections prior to shipment.

The method used on the quality control is the Military Standards 105D, that has proved its efficiency and credibility over the years. We usually use the 4% AQL but we can work on tighter or looser AQL’s as well as double or multiple inspections depending on the client’s requests.

trading & production

FMG, Lda. can intermediate international business operations both buying or selling textile products and shoes.

When buying, we assure that the factories respect the rules approved by the international organizations controlling the labour conditions and that the rules of Fair Trade are implemented.

We make sure that price and quality f the products are the most adequate and we can contract conformity control to be made by international organizations prior to shipment of the products and then make a quality control on reception.

When selling we follow up the production and quality control prior to shipment. We assure the conformity of all customs and commercial documents for all transactions, from or to non-EU countries.

certifications

As a consultant for Patagonia USA and Europe, we have been involved on the development of apparel in certified organic cotton since 1994 and have followed up the production of the first garments in organic cotton made in Portugal.

shoes

FMG, Lda. also has a department totally dedicated to the design and development of shoes both for Women and Men.

Filipe Ribeiro, the head of the department comes from a family dealing with with the leather industry for three generations and the shoe design just came naturally. Filipe Ribeiro studied Shoe Design and Modeling at the CFIC-SJM Portugal and Shoe Design at the ARS- Sutoria in Milan – Italy. This allows Filipe to know the full process from the concept to the modeling and making of shoes and accessories and works on Modeling and Design for 30 years now, for national and international brands.
